Position summary:

The Accounting Manager is a position that consistently interprets, implements, and supports Auditorium policy and organization goals. The position prepares or reviews entries and reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness. Ability to meet deadlines, both internal and external, is key to success. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring consistent implementation of controls and procedures pertaining to accounting and finance. The Accounting
Manager works with the CFO on matters regularly pertaining to period-end close and financial reporting but also expanding into budgets, analysis, and forecasting. The Accounting Manager managing the workflow of the Department is critical to managing the timeliness and accuracy of its work, which impacts numerous other individuals, departments, and stakeholders.

The responsibilities of our Finance & Accounting Department is on a trajectory to expand over the next twelve months. The CFO intends to hire a candidate who is interested to master the main areas described below; then, future opportunities will become available to grow your career, including expanding the role with responsibilities centering on planning & analysis, budgeting, and leading ad hoc projects.

A passion for the performing arts and our National Historic Landmark theater is critical for a candidate. Prior experiences in the performing arts and/or at a tax-exempt organization will be prioritized. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting:

• Manages the day-to-day accounting operations and supports month-end closing activities including reconciliations.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for CFO and Executive Leadership Team.
• Ensure transparency and clarity in reporting for stakeholders, internal and external.
• Assist with financial reports and internal controls for various departments and operations.
• Support CFO managing audit and compliance filings, including GAAP financial audit and IRS Form 990 filing.

Earned Income:

• Record weekly ticket sales entries in the general ledger;
• Record concessions sales and cost of goods sold entries in the general ledger; support General Manager and Operations overseeing and controlling inventory levels.
• Approve and review settlement statements to present to CFO for second-level of approval. Initiate wire transfers once CFO authorizes payment of amount per settlement statement.
• Prepare settlement entries in the general ledger: first, recording entries to reflect Box Office Settlement statements; then, recording entries to reflect the finalization of settlement statements (whether for presented events or events with our third-party business partners).
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments (e.g., box office, programming and production) to ensure accurate and complete revenue and expense recognition.
• Knowledge of Ticketmaster and AXS ticketing systems supporting earned income a plus

Internal Controls & Compliance:

• Establish and enforce strong internal financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and tax-exempt best practices.
• File timely the Auditorium’s monthly Sales & Use Tax and Amusement Tax reporting with city and state.
• File timely the Auditorium’s year-end 1099 reporting with both vendors and the IRS.
• Leverage past experiences to introduce and discuss potential control improvements.

Contributed Funds, including Grants & Fund Accounting:

• Oversee processes for managing contributed income reporting (e.g., grants, donations, sponsorships).
• Reconcile data between contributed income sub-ledger and the general ledger
• Ensure proper financial tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds for significant grant-funded capital projects.
• Knowledge of Salesforce CRM system (and Tessitura) to support contributed income a plus

Understanding Costs and Spending:

• Understand the design of the internal financial statements; understand how journal entry transactions map to the financial statements.
• Validate that account coding received in the accounts payable process accurately reflects the underlying business transaction; understand if/when edits in the accounts payable process are applicable.
• Support budget owners with timely distribution of departmental financial reports.
• Assume responsibility for fixed assets accounting, including tracking spending for individual projects as well as validating depreciation expense in the financial statements.

Technology:

• Demonstrate a strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel, including (but not limited to): pivot tables, pivot charts, INDEX/MATCH (or XLOOKUP), V/HLOOKUP, IFERROR, SUMIFS, conditional formatting, concatenating text strings, cell and workbook protections, algorithms, what-if analysis, forms, importing .csv or .txt files, etc.
• General understanding of accounting software, including the underlying application controls that are integral to our control environment. Prior experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
• Possess an awareness of current technological trends in the accounting world; share ideas to leverage technology to improve the quality and efficiency of reporting financial data and metrics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum educational requirement of a bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP & internal control procedures.
  • Must possess excellent communication & management skills, professional written and verbal skills, including report writing and organizational skills.
  • Software knowledge of accounting systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • Experience & knowledge of not-for-profit accounting, reporting & compliance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds.

Salary Range:

Assistant Food & Beverage Manager

Position Summary:
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager position is responsible for assisting the Food & Beverage Manager during all events at the theatre while delivering the highest caliber of customer service to guests.

Bar Back

Coat Check Attendant

Position summary:
The Director of Production is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of backstage and production operations at The Auditorium. This includes managing personnel, technical operations, facilities, and production logistics to ensure seamless, safe, and high-quality performance experiences. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director plays a strategic role in shaping and advancing production infrastructure, staff development, and artist service excellence aligned with the Theatre’s mission.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of production staff to ensure exceptional service to artists and clients.
  • Prescribe and supervise the maintenance and safe operation of all stage equipment and systems including lighting, audio, video, lifts, and rigging.
  • Supervise union labor to deliver professional, courteous, and efficient support for all stage events.
  • Oversee production estimates, technical riders, and equipment rentals to support programming and rental events.
  • Advance all confirmed productions, ensuring all backstage needs are prepared and executed at the highest standard.
  • Coordinate backstage logistics and provide a world-class experience to artists, companies, and technical crews.
  • Maintain safety standards and compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Be point person for all emergency and safety concerns for the Back of House guests, staff, and artists
  • Collaborate with Programming, Operations, and Finance teams to support organizational goals.
  • Manage production department budgets, labor settlements, payroll, and capital improvements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position oversees a team of production personnel, including Admin staff, union and non-union staff, contractors, and crew leads.

Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Theatre, Production Management, or related field required.
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in theatrical production, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Extensive knowledge of stage operations, union labor, technical systems, and performance logistics.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technical and production teams.
  • Superior communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and settlement experience.
  • Proficient with production management software; CAD/Vectorworks knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure, balance multiple priorities, and foster collaborative environments.
  • Active commitment to IDEA principles and promoting a diverse, inclusive backstage culture.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a historic performing arts venue with exposure to loud sound levels, theatrical lighting, and physically demanding environments. Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and navigate tight backstage areas is required.

Position summary:The Auditorium Ticketing Manager oversees all aspects of ticketing operations, ensuring a seamless, guest-focused experience from ticket purchase to event/show entry. This role is responsible for event/show set-up/builds, scaling, daily management/oversight of ticketing platforms, inventory, reporting, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support The Auditorium’s continued diversification of programming and overall mission.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, relentlessly efficient, tech-savvy, able to work well with others and passionate about live events and community arts access. The Auditorium averages 125 performances and attracts 300,000 guests each year.

Position Summary:
The Server is responsible for delivering the highest caliber of guest services while selling food and beverages during all events and functions within the Theatre.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
-Presents themselves in an upbeat, positive, professional, and friendly manner with guests and teammates

-Takes F&B orders from guests in the theatre in a courteous and efficient manner.

-Accurately rings all items sold and collects payment from guests using the POS system

-Adheres to the theatre’s Food & Beverage policies as outlined in our handbook

-Thanks each guest at the end of each transaction

-Works with bartenders to fulfill drink and food orders

-Checks customer identification when selling alcoholic beverages

-Sidework and other duties as assigned

Experience:
0-2 years

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
-Knowledge and experience working as a server within a large Theatre or high volume environment

-Must be receptive to working in inclement weather and extreme temperatures

-Available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend and Holiday hours

-Work successfully in a fast paced and loud environment

-Able to lift and carry 15 lbs

-Required to stand for long periods of time; ability to bend, lift, and walk up and down stairs

-Excellent verbal and communication skills

-Strong spirit of optimism and collaboration.

-Knowledge of POS systems

-Basset Certified

-Welcome guest to the Theatre in an upbeat, positive, professional, and friendly manner

-Scan guests tickets, ensuring ticket is valid for performance and give accurate directions

-Greet and escort guests to their assigned seats in an efficient and friendly manner

-Check work area for cleanliness and be sure all pathways are clear of obstacles or trash

-Pro-actively attend to guests’ needs: questions, directions, information regarding the performance, and Theatre policies

-Responsible for a safe and efficient in-gress and e-gress

-Respond to emergencies or guest related issues/concerns in a timely manner

-Monitor audience during events to ensure event policies are followed; ie camera policy

-Assemble and distribute programs to guests

-Collect and return lost and found items to guests

Experience
0 – 2 years

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities are the most important qualifications of this position.

-Knowledge and experience ushering within a large Theatre environment

-Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures

Position summary:
The custodian position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall aesthetic appearance of the Theatre and the surrounding facility grounds, while also delivering exceptional guest services to all Theatre guests.

 

Major areas of responsibilities:

  • Sanitize, clean, and stock restrooms prior, during, and after events, including Front of House and Back of House areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of office spaces
  • Collect and take out trash and recycling
  • Clean wood, linoleum, tile and other flooring
  • Shampoo and vacuum rugs and carpets
  • Dust and sterilize all surfaces, including door handles, banisters, railings, and seating
  • Wash exterior and interior windows and sidewalks and Theatre walls
  • Handle clean-up of any spills or accidents during an event
  • Use special custodial equipment: commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners
  • Set up and break down tables and chairs for special events
  • Distribute program boxes to all levels of the Theatre

 

Experience:

0-2 years

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous custodial experience working in a Theatre environment
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaners
  • Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend and Holiday hours
  • Work successfully in a fast paced and loud environment
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and walk up and down steps
  • Comfortable with heights
