What Educators Say About Our Series:

“Our students have benefited greatly from the Student Matinees at the Auditorium Theatre. The performances offer the unique opportunity for students to see some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into a professional performance. They see dancers warming up onstage, fully produced dance excerpts and hear directly from choreographers, dancers and artistic directors about their artistic process. Our students always come away inspired and motivated by what they experienced.”
-Sarah Ford Thompson, Horton Technique + Department Admin. Assistant, Chicago High School for the Arts

“In addition to building their confidence, the Student Matinees fuel my students’ passion to learn and perform at their best.”
-Sarah Lynes-Campbell, Dance Teacher at Deerfield High School

“This is our 5th year coming to see Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and each year our students walk away mesmerized.”
-Yolanda McMillan, Altgeld Elementary School

“Student Matinees allow facilitators to create new and emerging approaches that help students think critically and act with integrity while reclaiming social responsibility, and humanity.”
-Melinda Wilson, Dance Director, Curie High School
