Volunteer Ushers work side-by-side with paid staff to provide a memorable experience for our guests. Volunteers Ushers must arrive at the Auditorium Theatre seventy-five (75) minutes before the show start time for an informational session on assigned positions, and on basic rules and advice. The Volunteer Ushers may watch the performance they are scheduled for. The Saints (www.saintschicago.org) coordinates the volunteer usher program at the Auditorium Theatre. Please contact Nikki Marquardt at [email protected] for more information.
A docent is scheduled to work at most performances, and/or during historic building tours, for the primary purposes of educating patrons on the architecture, history, institutional operation, and mission of the Auditorium Theatre. Docents are required to attend a historic building tour, and welcoming session to better familiarize themselves with the Auditorium Theatre. Volunteers Docents must arrive at the Auditorium Theatre seventy-five (75) minutes before the show start time, (this may vary periodically,) for an informational session on assigned positions, duties, and organizational updates. The Volunteer Docents may watch the performance they are scheduled for. The Volunteer Docents deemed outstanding on their roles, may be asked to become an official tour guide for the historic tours. If you are interested in assisting by volunteering as a docent, please email us at [email protected]. Please be sure to include Volunteer Docent in the subject line of your email.
