Ushers work side-by-side paid staff to provide a memorable experience for our guests. Volunteers must arrive at the Auditorium seventy-five (75) minutes before the show start time for an informational session on assigned positions as basic rules and advice. The volunteers may watch the performance. The Saints (www.saintschicago.org) coordinates the volunteer usher program at the Auditorium Theatre. Please contact Dale Kuypers at [email protected] for more information.
Volunteers sell collectible and clothing merchandise on behalf of Auditorium Theatre before and after the show along with during intermissions. Volunteer merchandise sellers are trained in advance of the performance on how to inventory merchandise and complete shift paperwork. Volunteers have the opportunity to watch the performance. If you are interested in assisting by volunteering as a merchandise seller, please email us at [email protected]. Please be sure to include Merchandise Seller Volunteer in the subject line of your email.
A docent is scheduled to work at most performances for the purposes of educating patrons on the architecture and history of the building. Information will be presented to the docent as a pre-written script. The docent has the opportunity to watch the performance. Docents deemed outstanding may be asked to become an official tour guide for the public tours. If you are interested in assisting by volunteering as a docent, please email us at [email protected]. Please be sure to include Volunteer Docent in the subject line of your email.
