The Marketing and Communications Manager oversees ad design and trafficking, day-to-day PR tasks, creates content for website and program book, manages marketing events, and works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to provide marketing support to rentals. This position is the key marketing contact for our restaurant and rental partnerships, and is integral in creating meaningful partnerships in the community, focused around the theatre’s on-stage programming. The Marketing and Communications Manager also supports the day-to-day operations of the marketing team and is an integral part of reaching goals for subscription, single ticket sales, and special events.
Major Areas of Responsibilities
-Manages ad design/creation and trafficking of each marketing plan’s media buy. Also responsible for executing the grassroots and community partnership areas of marketing initiatives and plans.
-Performs the day-to-day duties of the theatre’s public relations strategy managed by the Director of Marketing and Communications. Includes creating press releases, generating pitch ideas, managing press and social media influencer list, and updating listings.
-Manages production of Auditorium Theatre’s program book – includes writing and procuring articles relevant to current programming, coordinating with performing companies on their program content, coordinating with marketing on ad content, and proofing and editing layout in a timely manner.
-Primary marketing contact for hotel and restaurant program and assists the Director of Marketing and Communications in all marketing support for rentals.
-Leads the creation and implementation of all marketing events. Works with presenting companies, as well as the Chicago community to partner.
Experience 3 – 4 years with at least 2 years of marketing and public relations experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities are the most important qualifications of this position.
-Demonstrated success on a marketing team promoting live entertainment or increasing attendance at museums.
-Must be a strong and creative writer.
-Must possess strong project management skills.
-Demonstrated success in creating strong community partnerships.
-Demonstrated success in creating and implementing events.
-An active commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA).
-Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
-Creativity and problem solving skills a must.
-Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both our internal and external partners.
-Appreciation of performing arts.
-Tessitura experience preferred, but not required.
Salary Range/Benefits $45K-$69K
