“Not many artists shun the spotlight to work as they want. But dancer-choreographer Sybil Shearer did. After a celebrated Carnegie Hall debut in 1941, she bid adieu to the Big Apple and settled in Northbrook to teach and create. Her appearances were few and far between. But happily, Thodos Dance Chicago reminds us of the talent she was when it revives three of her works. The evening also includes The White City: Chicago’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, created by Melissa Thodos and Tony winner Ann Reinking.”
