“In my opinion, it is a dream intensive, being able to take so many different genres of dance from the local companies!” – MIC Dance Intensive Parent
The Auditorium Theatre is pleased to present the 4th annual Made in Chicago Summer Dance Intensive. Celebrating Chicago’s proud tradition of classical and contemporary dance, and remembering the world-renowned dance companies that have graced the Auditorium Theatre stage for over 125 years, we inspire and encourage the ambitions of dancers who will grace our stage in the years to come with this week-long dance intensive experience.
During the Made in Chicago Summer Dance Intensive, students have the opportunity to study various dance forms with the professionals of local Chicago dance companies. This past summer we were joined by: The Joffrey Ballet, DanceWorks Chicago, Thodos Dance Chicago, Giordano Dance Chicago, Chicago Human Rhythm Project, and Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater! Next year’s participating companies will be announced in February 2017. With this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn from true masters of their craft, participants benefit firsthand from the wisdom and experience of a diverse grouping made up of some of Chicago’s most exceptional artists. As they refine their technique and challenge their creativity, students also learn about the profession of dance, and discover the many ways this art form can benefit them as they move toward their future.
Dancers ages 12-17 can attend June 26-30, 2017. Overnight housing options are available.
Intensive days run 9AM-5:30PM Monday-Thursday, with a family sharing on Friday. Cost of tuition is $450 and includes lunches and MIC Dance Intensive t-shirt. Overnight housing costs $300 which includes residence hall accommodations with Roosevelt University, daily breakfast and dinner, and evening excursions.
Registration for the 2017 Intensive is now open – deadline for application is April 7.
